LOCAL HOUR

Ariving from Belgium or other european countries where they have adopted different hour in winter and summer,
you should move forward your watch to three hours from end of october till end of march
and to two hours the remaining six months.
But if you arrived from England, you should adjust 4 hours in winter in Mauritius
and 3 hours in summer.

OPENING HOURS

ADMINISTRATION : From 9am to 4pm, saturday from 9am to 12am
POST OFFICE : From 8am to 11am and 12 to 3.30pm
BANKING SERVICES : From monday to friday from 10am to 2pm, saturday from 9.30am to 12am (depending the agency).
SHOP : From 9am to 5pm from monday to saterday, and sometimes till 12am on sunday.
In many places, the shops are closed on thurday afternoon.
The hotel's shop has their won schedule.

WHEN SHOULD YOU GO ?

Mauritius has only two seasons of six months,
from november to april hot season.
You should avoid to come in january and february because of tropical cyclones.
The weather forcast gives all information concerning the position of the cyclone and people take all the necessary precautions in advance and the Mauritian faces the cyclone without any risk.
From may to october, cool and pleasant.
During all the year, the temperature of the water varies from 22 and 27°C.
The water is very cold in the sea under twenty meters.
The careful diver will wear a suit.
In Mauritius as in all tropical zone, the dusk is very short.
In june the sun rises at 6am and sets at 5.30pm and in summer from at 5.30am to 7pm.

FORMALITY

PASSPORT

The passport of current validity is enough, provided that the stay does not exceed three months.
Attention it is necessary, that the passport be valid 6 months after the end of your stay in Maurice.
No visa is asked for the nationals of the C.E.E.
The return ticket is necessary.

ANIMALS

They will have to undergo a long period of quarantine : six months for the dogs and cats
And a spécial authorisation from the ministry of agriculture of Port-Louis
It will be easier if your animal could stay at home and wait for your return.

VACCINATION

Any vaccination is needed.
But people coming from countries which are contaminated by cholera, yellow fever
or small pox should sapeguard against these diseases.
